A Critical Moment to Come Together
As members of the Emerson Alumni Board, we have witnessed recent events that have deeply affected our community. The student protests and the subsequent events and discussions have brought to light the importance of unity, understanding, and healing within our diverse Emerson community. We believe that now, more than ever, is a crucial time for us to come together, bridge divides, and reaffirm our shared commitment to the values of our alma mater.
This year’s Commencement and Alumni Weekend served as poignant reminders of the strength and resilience of the Emerson community. We saw graduates from various backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences unite to celebrate their achievements and mark the beginning of their journey as Emerson alumni. The spirit of camaraderie and support was truly visible, showcasing the enduring bonds that tie us together as members of the Emerson family.
However, we also recognize that recent events have highlighted divisions within the College community. It is essential for us to acknowledge and address these divisions openly and constructively. As Emersonians, we believe that dialogue, empathy, and a commitment to understanding each other’s perspectives are vital steps toward healing and reconciliation.
As we move forward, we encourage all alumni to actively engage with the Emerson community. Attend events, participate in discussions, and reconnect with fellow alumni. Our presence, contributions, and engagement are invaluable to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our community.
We are committed to creating opportunities for alumni to come together, share their experiences, and collaborate on initiatives that uphold the values of the College. Whether it’s through networking events, professional development opportunities, or volunteering, there are countless ways for you to get involved and make a difference.
We believe in the power of our alumni community to effect positive change and inspire future generations of Emersonians. Let us seize this moment to reaffirm our shared values; bridge divides; and build a stronger, more united Emerson family.
Together, we can create a brighter future for Emerson College.
